Guides for Providers
Six years later, we still see these line items available in Core. However, things have changed dramatically over the last 6 months, changing the way funding can be used.
For plans created post October 3rd 2024, if it is not listed that the participant has access to disability related health supports then they cannot use the line items in question. For plans created before October 3rd, 2024, there is the potential for more flexibility. However, this must be managed through discussions with the participant's my NDIS contact.
The NDIA has announced that the line items relating to disability related health support, from a therapy perspective, will become Legacy Support Items (retired from use). With their end date scheduled for the day before the 2005/26 Pricing Arrangements and Pricing Limits (PAPL) is released.
Currently, when using Core funding to pay for therapy supports the supports must be addressing one or more of these conditions:
• Complex bowel care
• Enteral feeding and management
• Severe dysphagia management
• Tracheostomy care
• Urinary catheter management
• Ventilator management
• Subcutaneous injections (e.g., diabetes management)
• Complex wound management
It is a misuse of funding for a therapist to charge through these Core Disability Related Health Supports line items when the participant does not have a health condition that falls into these categories. Providers run the risk of their invoices being rejected by the NDIA.
If you are delivering Disability Related Health Supports through Core for participants be sure to prepare yourself and your participant. From the 30th of June 2025, Core line items related to therapy support for Disability Related Health Support will no longer be available. The line items for nursing and low-cost AT will remain available in Core.
Be sure to discuss the change with your participant and their family so they are aware. If there needs to be a discussion with their my NDIS contact, they can do so in time, ensuring support remains in place.
