Social justice is a value close to our heart at Pathways to Care, so we jumped at the chance to help their volunteer charity in making a difference to Victorian women and children fleeing violence.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
In a nutshell, through word of mouth and social media, hundreds of volunteers gather together to pack small items into bags that make a huge impact on women’s lives.
They bring together men women and children from around a range of cultural backgrounds to do something good for somebody they don’t know. This fills our hearts with joy.
Their work includes advocacy and awareness-raising, interest-free loans, grants to safehouses, school bursaries and court childcare.
Donate new items to go into bags. It may be basic hygiene essentials or a chocolate treat. They pack bags of love twice a year, for Mother’s day and Christmas so donations are always welcome to go towards these packs.
Donating money and goods isn't the only way to help impact: volunteering is a great way to make an impact and it will also give you an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
With Covid restrictions finally easing up the Impact for Women are very keen for volunteers to join them. The entire organisation is led and driven purely by people donating their time. Volunteers are key to Impact being able to support women in need.
One of the many great things about volunteering is its visible impact. Not only will this motivate you to keep on giving, but it will give you an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
Ways in which you can volunteer:
